In a nose to nose battle between Norton and Kaspersky products, it will largely come down to the individuals’s loyalty toward one or another of these two well respected anti-malware software providers. Both are agreeably priced, and a systematic comparison of the performance of the two companies’ latest products was remarkably even in its results.
Norton is somewhat more expensive to purchase for a 12 month lease. However, it does offer a 60 day trial program which contains nearly all of its regular features. Kaspersky offers no such program. Whereas those who wish to sample Kaspersky’s similar programs will have to rely on the testimony of friends, or reviews that they read on the internet. This alone might well be the deciding factor which consistently keeps Norton antivirus products higher on the food chain than the (for all intents and purposes) nearly identical programs offered by Kaspersky or other leading antivirus software providing competitors such as McAfee.
Kaspersky’s programs do seem to run faster than Norton’s. This may perhaps be a deciding factor in choosing between the two, especially if one is providing antivirus protection for computers on a corporate account. Kaspersky’s program, however, does take up a bit more space on the hard drive, and does remain much more noticeable in the background when it is scanning for problems. This could be an issue if you are running the program while engaging in other tasks, especially if participating in instant message chat. Norton runs a bit slowly, but more unobtrusively, and doesn’t cause as much “static” for other programs while it runs in the background.
